The Cathedral Concept is a life perspective that focuses on our purpose here on earth and our reward once we arrive in heaven. We used this concept to encourage the crew of Indescribable during production. During post production it was especially helpful as weeks of editing turned into months of editing and re-editing.
That is what the Cathedral Concept is all about. Refocusing on the eternal worth of what we are doing. If we discover that what we are doing has no eternal value then we need to change what we are doing. If a change in the political realm causes us to lose heart and no longer want to do what we are doing, we need to re-examine what we are doing.
Life in general has a way of overwhelming us with things that cloud the truly important things. Whether we lose perspective by getting bored in the mundane daily tasks or by getting caught up in a thousand little urgencies, the result is still the same. We need to refocus.
As Christians, our lives can be filled with meaningful work that will last long after the last ember of the earth’s destruction has died away. The world is full of distractions and fluff that will keep you from living life to the fullest. Don’t let it rob you of the joy of serving the King of Kings. I love these words of Jesus from Mark. Note the phrase “to every man his work” and the command to watch:
“For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
“Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cock crowing, or in the morning:
“Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.”
