Sometimes in the thick of the battle you can forget who your enemy is. That happened to me recently. Actually, it happens to me more often than I care to admit. I love my family dearly, but all to often I find the old nature trying to dig in to protect my flesh. Those are the times that I really need to understand who the enemy is that I’m battling against.
Recently I drew out the battle in my life from my perspective in my prayer journal. When I met with my Commander In Chief He had a few corrections He wanted me to make in my battle map. See how it all went down in this video:
David’s words as he went to meet Goliath are an encouragement to all of us. And he has the right perspective:
1 Samuel 17
45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
46 “This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
47 “Then all this assembly shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD’S, and He will give you into our hands.”

The battle is the Lord’s! This gives us the confidence to move forward in obedience to Him. But there is more.
Any good military outfit has some sort of a Quartermaster who supplies and outfits all the different personnel. Jesus Christ, our Commander In Chief is the Captain of our Salvation and our Quartermaster who has everything we need to win in this battle.
Philippians 4
19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
